March 144/432 MHz 2020

This contest, the first of the VHF Championship, takes place before the better weather and so adverse weather can be expected.   This years event was no exception with entrants mentioning strong winds and rain - but at least no snow.

As in previous years R1 logs were obtained and were used as part of the adjudication process.

On 144MHz 121 squares were worked (132 in 2019, 90 in 2018) and there were 674 active stations (999 in 2019, 671 in 2018). There were 93 entries (93 in 2019, 89 in 2018). UK ODX was achieved by G2D working DL0HTW at 881km.

On 432MHz 69 squares were active (51 in 2019, 71 in 2018) and there were 317 active stations (245 in 2019, 290 in 2018). There were 93 entries (96 in 2019, 72 in 2018). UK entrant ODX was achieved by G2D working DM3F at 874km.

Congratulations go to:

  • Drowned Rats RG G2D who won the open section
  • David G4ASR, who won the single operator fixed section
  • Steve G1YBB/P who won the single operator open section
  • Warrington CG G3R who won the six-hour open section
  • Richard GD8EXI, who won the six-hour single operator fixed section for the seventh year running
